PLAY THE ANGLE
For a family who love entertaining and welcoming people into their home and garden, the architects designed a unique extension for this period home in Wanstead. Instead of simply putting a box to the back of the house, a slim, angled extension was added with full height glazing on both sides to capture the natural light.
Works from Honed
Constructed single storey extension with steel frame and reclaimed bricks to match original.
Laid handmade brick tiles to run seamlessly from the extension through to the new patio outside - reflecting the angled design of the extension.
Extension doors were installed with triple track to ensure precision and smoothness when used.
Hand-built joinery in the kitchen to create extra storage, keeping appliances discrete.
Kitchen island installed with a waterfall edge and blackened steel panelling to the side. The top of the island holds a downdraft hob.
The downstairs bathroom and additional storage are concealed behind two doors in slatted oak panels.
Installed pocket doors lead to the kitchen entrances
Through the kitchen into the living room, the original floor in both spaces was retained, repaired and oiled.
